killap's Fallout 1.02+ (1.02.22) US/UK Patch - Manual Install

==================
Patch Information:
==================
This is an "unofficial" patch for Fallout 2 which attempts to continue where the official 1.02 patch left off. Over 800+ bugs that were still present in the 1.02 version have been fixed(貌似说又新修复了800多个bug?). I try and limit my changes to actual bug fixes and not just include random changes that are not always needed/intended. If you have any questions/comments feel free to e-mail me at "[email protected]" You can also find me on the No Mutants Allowed forum found at http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/  If you cannot reach me by e-mail, I suggest posting there. Thanks and enjoy the patch!

=============
Installation:
=============
The folder that contains this readme should also contain a folder titled "data." This is the folder that contains all the fixes and files needed to run this patch. In addition, there are two other folders that come with this patch. One is called "Windows 95-98-ME" and the other is called "Windows NT-XP-VISTA"
Open up one (and ONLY ONE) depending on the version of Windows you are running. Copy the three files in this folder as well as the "data" folder found at the root of the patch directory to your main Fallout 2 folder. If you used the default setup, your Fallout 2 installation directory should be located at C:\Program Files\BlackIsle\Fallout2. Windows will ask you if you want to overwrite the contents. Say yes. You should now have a folder called "data" in your Fallout 2 directory and when you go inside it, there should be a bunch of folder called "Art," "Data," "Maps," &quotroto," etc. You should also see two files ddraw.dll (or sfall.dll depending on your Windows version) in the main directory where the Fallout2.exe is also found. The last thing you must do, and this is EXTREMELY important, is to delete a file called "patch000.dat" from your main Fallout 2 directory. If you are running the 1.0 version of the game, then this file will not be found and you can ignore this comment. However, if you are running a pre-patched version of the game, you must remove this file prior to starting a new game. If you run into problems installing, I suggest downloading the installer version of my patch which will do all of this automatically for you. If you do choose this manual route, check the FAQ below for details regarding whether the patch is indeed installed correctly or not. Enjoy!

NOTE: If this is the first time you have used my patch, then you will have to start a new game since previous save games will no longer work.

NOTE 2: This version includes the Children's patch and thus if you are using a non-US version of the game and missing children, this patch includes everything you need to get them back in.

Frequently Asked Questions:
===========================
Q: Can I use official 1.02 patch saves with this unofficial patch?
A: No, sadly you cannot. Any save game made before using my patch is not compatible. All future versions of my patch, however, are compatible with previous versions of my work unless otherwise noted.

Q: I just finished the Temple of Trials and the pipboy already says I completed quests in Redding or other locations. What gives?
A: Did you follow the installation instructions above? Most likely you still have the patch000.dat file in your Fallout 2 directory. If so, remove this file and RESTART the game.

Q: How do I know if this patch is installed correctly?
A: Before this wasn't an easy question to answer. As of the June 2007 release, I added a small rock at the beginning of the game. This rock is found just outside the Temple of Trials behind Klint. Looking at the rock should display some text and give the version of the patch you are running. If you don't see this rock then you missed something and should look over the installation instructions again. In addition, you should see a patch version number in the lower right corner of the main menu to the game.

Q: I am moving REALLY slow on the world map. Why is this?
A: This mod comes with an improved .exe file for faster computers (1Ghz CPU or above). Everyone complained that the world map was too fast with modern computers and thus this .exe is included. To revert back to normal speeds, just go to your main Fallout 2 directory and open a file called ddraw.ini in a text editor (like notepad or wordpad). Scroll down until you come to some text that reads: "WorldMapDelay=" The current value should read 16777216. To revert back to normal speeds, change 16777216 to a 0 and then save and close the file.

Q: The world map is still too fast even with this improved .exe file. What gives?
A: The improved .exe is balanced to work well with the majority of people but if things are still too fast, you can still change things. Go to your main Fallout 2 directory and open up a file called ddraw.ini in a text editor (like notepad or wordpad). Scroll down until you come to some text that reads: "WorldMapDelay=" The current value should be 16777216 if you have not altered this line in anyway. To make things go slower, change the value to some number larger than 16777216. Be careful though since setting it too high can lag out your system. Experiment until you get the perfect speed. Once you are done, save and close the file.

?Without the use of Per's Fallout 2 walkthrough I would not have been able to pinpoint the majority of the bugs fixed in this patch. Thanks!
?Several of these fixes are taken from the work done by Seraph in his patch and I am truly grateful for the work he has done. Thanks!
?I used the updated Official Mapper scripts (1.02D) by Haenlomal as the base to my patch. Much thanks for his work on this!
?This patch utilizes Timeslip's Fallout 2 engine tweaks. Without this, several bugs that exist in the game would continue to remain unfixable.
?Thanks to all those out there that sent in bug reports and thanks to the friendly people over at No Mutants Allowed with all the help they have provided. Thanks!
